When Silence is Not Golden...

They say "Silence is Golden"

Having a 21 months old toddler, silence is a rare case. And when it happens, most of the cases, something is not right.

Like today...

I was lucky enough to be trusted with baby sitting my friend's son for two days and his name is Adrian. He just turned two last October.

Malik was more than excited to have a friend staying for the whole day. He even learned several new vocabularies as a result of imitating Adrian.

So for two days, our house was a total mess, a beautiful mess. There was no silent moment, not even when they were asleep cause their nap schedule is totally different. It's one after another.

So today, i was working on the family financial planning downstairs while watching the boys played around. They were running here and there, shouting, singing, talking alien language and laughing out loud (which sometimes leads to crying outloud (God knows how).

And then...for about 15 mins, there was that silence moment which I didnt even realized. No sound at all. Not even wheels from the plastic car pressed againts the floor or even a whispering babbles from any of the boys. I anxiously looked around and they were nowhere to be found.

Then I saw Adrian under the round stairs where Malik is always eager to climb on, looking up straight. And there he was...2 more steps from the second stories. Aware that he got caught by his mom, he waved down cheerfully instead of panicking or doing any efforts to run away. Its like saying "see, I can do it!!! I told you..."

I know you can baby, i know you can do anything that you want to. But its also part of my job to freak out and to be paranoid about you and your safety, and thats for and only reason that i love you that much.

So until you can take care of yourself and be fully (aware and) responsible for what you did or going to do, i think im going to stick around and watch you closely.

One day you'll understand, it also took me quite some times to understand things that my mom used to say "no" to. And im grateful that she did..hopefully you'll be grateful too baby.

For any of you with likely active toddlers, whenever there is silence, except for when they are sleeping, be suspicious...be very very suspicious...cause something is happening somewhere in the restricted area of your house *wide grin*
